Beatmaker from Intua

May 20, 2010   //   by SeventhSwami   //   Blog, Uncategorized  //  No Comments

Lordie… this is the day my apple-touting friends have been waiting for… the day i eat my hat, as promised. So i’ve been secretly waiting for ONE THING to happen before jumping on the smartphone bandwagon… i’ve been waiting for a professional music production app to come out that fulfills the following list of demands.

1) must let me write beats on-the-go
2) must work on a device that doesn’t require me to purchase a monthly data plan
3) must let me EXPORT MIDI FILES so i can slap them into ableton live when i get home.

Looks like the wait is over. Since i haven’t been staying on top of all the latest iNews, it took me by surprise too. A gentleman who walked into the LoveTech booth at Yuri’s Night started talking to me about production techniques and i mentioned that i was holding out this full-featured dream-app to come out… and he pulled out his iPhone and introduced me to Beatmaker for Intua.

Looks pretty juicy! So i’m putting the iPod Touch on my wishlist. My coworker here warns “this will be your gateway apple product to buying more apple products..then steve jobs will control your life”

Maybe so… but i can at least continue my lifestyle of “late-adopter / cheapskate” by getting a used Touch and not an iPad. I like my Kool Aid in controlled doses.

Secret Lives — Walt Disney

May 18, 2010   //   by SeventhSwami   //   Blog, Uncategorized  //  No Comments

A six part documentary about the darker side of Walt Disney’s character… looking at his racist, anti-Semitic, misogynist tendencies which finally led to a pathological hatred of communists and an active particpation in McCarthy’s House Committee on Un-American Activities.

youtubez

This is the best documentary i’ve seen about Big Pharma. I encourage you to watch all 6 parts of this… totals at just under an hour, altogether. I also encourage you to share share share with your loved ones. If anyone can be saved from pathologizing their own human experience, it will be worth the email.
