DJ Hero… It’s Not About The Drugs

So lately they’ve been shoving this DJ Hero commercial down my throat. I was holding off on criticism until i found out more about it… but this “sparkly balls” thing is worthy of comment.

I love how they reduce the mentality of the dancer girl to the level of Edward from Cowboy Bebop. Is this Activision’s opinion of party kids? I don’t remember seeing anything that insulting anywhere in guitar hero commercials. The focus was on the music you’d be “playing”… not the beer swilling frat boys in the audience.

As far as gameplay is concerned:

“Euphoria” is equivalent to Guitar Hero’s “Star Power”
Wikipedia:

I guess they could argue that euphoria isn’t a drug reference, but i’m dubious. Does DJ Hero punish your audience with bad trips if you trainwreck? (instead of just booing you offstage like in guitar hero… or real-life hero)

Perhaps i’m overthinking it… but i feel like someone forgot to tell Activision that “It’s All About the Music”.

  1. Or, how ’bout the ‘she’s over there philosophizin’ on the beauty and wonder of womanhood… wonder what’s going through her head?” and the cut directly to ‘sparkly balls, sparkly balls, I have sparkly balls’… cause you know all women are just interested in swingin’ their boobies for the aforementioned beer-swilling frat boys, and can only fixate on shiny things. Gah! (Wonder if they built in some tweaker a-hole to come unplug the mixers if you play too long?)
