Carl Sagan makes a good point in his book Dragons of Eden on the growth of human consciousness in relation to our ability to manage data external to our own brains and share it with each other. With the advent of holographic storage and fiber technologies we'll be data gods compared to where we are currently. Already today we are starting to see the effects of instant communication, practically limitless data at our fingertips, and the virtualization of our lives.

But whats it mean in the end?

Or more importantly, will it play Minesweeper?
