Dreaming in Overdrive

i changed some of my habits about 2.5 weeks ago (i cold-turkeyed caffeine AND smoking) and, as usual, my tendency to dream vividly has returned with gale force. Every single night for 2.5 weeks i have had the most amazing other-worldly adventures and i can remember them when i wake up.

Night before last i left the planet on a space shuttle and was trying to send messages back home but i was so far away i couldn’t distinguish our sun from the rest of the stars… then i came home and was at stilldream and panicked when i realized i hadn’t written up the schedule yet. But stilldream seemed more like the state fair and there were horse races and circle-track cars… and all of them were getting stuck in the mud because some dude in the space shuttle figured out how to control the weather so we had to figure out how to stop him.

Last night I dreamed of pretty mundane stuff but for some reason had an episode of sleep paralysis… a condition that affects heavy dreamers sometimes… where you are awake but the part of your brain that keeps you from thrashing about in your sleep is still going strong so you just lay there awake, unable to move… it’s really really uncomfortable and somewhat scary to not even be able to control your own breathing.. you’re just laying there observing yourself breathing at relaxed, subconsciously-controlled pace. I fell back asleep for a short time and dreamed of finding an adult store on K street in sacramento called “TJ Hookum’s Atomic Makeout Box”

I love discovering things in my dreams… Things i am clueless as to how i came up with.

Hopefully this vivid nightly adventuring will continue EVERY night and not just taper off when my body gets accustomed to my new routines. I have had friends experience this level of fantasy by applying a nicotene patch right before bed but i feel lucky to achieve this on my own. It was like this when i was younger but as i abused these chemicals with more regularity in my 20s i would only have crazy dreams about twice a month. THIS is AWESOME!!!

A while back i was trying to use Lightwave 3D to illustrate some of these fantastic other worlds i’ve visited in my dreams… and with great success! Here are a few of them…

sadly i never finished this project. These pics were going to be pages in the booklet to go with some dj mixes i was putting together. (hence the song names layered on top of the photos) The Bavand font was sort of an old type-treatment for the seventhswami moniker… one that i’ve ditched since then. I still would like to finish this project some day.
