Going to Pecha Kucha tonight!

more: pechakucha-sf.com/
(voted “BEST HYPERINTELLECTUAL SHOW-AND-TELL” in the bay area by the San Francisco Guardian!!)
Sounds like an interesting event… kinda like ADAC but on more of a sharing level. I’m going to be interested to hear what some of these people have to show. Maybe someday i’ll show some work there.
Also… THIS: sdo.seoul.go.kr/english/index.html seems like a good enough reason to go back to Seoul for a visit! I like how there is a picture of the olympic stadium they built in 1988 (the last time i was there) and right next to it it says that it’s going to to be held in the Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium… conference hall. =(
Direct Note Access
Ho Lee Sheeeit….

Things that are important to me and things that are not
I used to be a real stickler about using title case text in my blog title line.
Now it doesn’t keep me up at night.
I used to try to promote green awareness.
Now i tire of promoting the “green bubble”
I used to really want my opinion heard too.
Now i gauge whether or not it’s worth the effort it takes to actually open my mouth and use my lungs.
I used to care to archive every single last thing that i thought i might want to see/use later.
Now the internet (and the forthcoming “grid”) are changing the way i think about “ownership” and challenging some of my most fundamental instincts.
Information overload. My ways of thinking are going to have to change if i am to survive this transition without running myself completely insane.
Time for a vin diesel break…
http://4q.cc/index.php?pid=top100&person=vin
Did you know if you reaarange the letters in “Vin Diesel” it spells “I End Lives”??? Holy crap i thought MY anagram-name was cool! I certainly can’t top that.

Amazon Fucking RULES
THING THAT RULES #1:
www.amazon.com/Uranium-Or…pd_sbs_misc
This was funny enough… but look down a little further at “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought:”…. Yes I’d like some forbidden legos and a futurama dvd with my radioactive isotope please.
But wait! Look right above that at “Better Together”… you can buy Uranium Ore WITH Forbidden Legos (the Models Your Parents Warned You Against) for only $46.42!
Actually that Forbidden Legos book looks awesome! So far, from what i can tell, it’s all automatic projectile weapons… but that does raise the interesting question… “Who buys this together with Uranium Ore?”… kinda scary.
THING THAT RULES #2
www.amazon.com/JL421-Bado…pd_sbs_misc
Found it futher down on the same page under “Customer who viewed this item also viewed:” right next to Dr John’s Famous Pee Pee and Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake.
A brief read reveals that this thing runs on an air-cooled gasoline engine… NOT the uranium, thank god…
I would TOTALLY own this device. I would TOTARRY mob the fuck out of this thing on the playa… not for $20K or anything… but for cheaper. It looks like Jabba the Hutt’s Mini-Me’s Sand Barge. Not only that, if you look down a little you’ll notice that customers who bought items like this tank also bought mad crotchless panties which totally makes sense. I mean it has to get hot inside that thing right? When you kidnap your mini Princess Leia you have to have the right gear to dress her up in for when she sits at the foot of your slab.
So the plan for burning man this year is as follows…
1. Pick up giant bag of legos from mom’s house.
2. Build Badokadonk Land Cruiser replica out of legos
3. Buy uranium ore and crotchless panties
4. Kidnap midget Carrie Fisher
5. Sit on concrete slab and eat frogs while demanding Solo and the wookie.
Killer Motion Graphics
I saw “The Kingdom” a few weeks back… and even though the movie was kind of “ho hum” sensationalism, the intro blew me the fuck away. It is an amazing blend of info graphics, motion graphics and video footage… seamless and powerful.

luckily, the design group has it online for us to view =)
www.picagency.com/kingdom_movie.html
I am especially impressed with how there is 2D type floating in 3D space… and when the camera moves it creates differing text sizes that align in typographically sound ways on the horizon line. Also the 3D oil consumption bar-graph for the United States turning into the WTC was pretty clever.
Bar Codes Can Be Beautiful Too
