Slightly Stressed Out

Two Reasons:

a) I put off a bunch of things until the last minute… again… Some people I know say that it’s the hallmark of the graphic designer… As a whole we tend to procrastinate.

Sometimes I’ll get my shit together and maintain good habits… good posture… for up to a few months at a time. But then I become kind of a workaholic and one day I will predictably jump out of my seat and say “fuck this… i need a break…” and then I’ll go back to “living in the present moment” for an undetermined amount of time… spend money foolishly… forget about planning altogether… end up cutting things way too close… And see I put quotes around “living in the present moment” because that’s not really what’s happening… that’s just what I’m telling myself. If I was truly living in the present moment I would be mindful of all things with a smile on my face… wheras what I do is more akin to shirking responsibility and sticking my head in the sand.

See if I could just get in the habit of living moderately… truly living in the present moment while knowing when to call it quits and go relax… then maybe i wouldn’t burn out and need to vacillate from one side of sanity to the other in order to be content.

b) My mother is insane and bent on destroying us all.

That is all.

    A) If graphic designers are famous for procrastinating and doing shit at the last minute, it’s only because our clients always ask for shit at the last possible minute. Obviously you’ve been trained by the people around you. Blame others!

    B) It’s good that I got the alert about your moms. I’ll stockpile water and canned vegetarian chili.

i’m exactly the same way (but my mom’s not bent on destroying anyone, just plaguing them with expert nag tactics). when you put out a set and it’s all cohesive? i think wow, i wish i could focus on my chill long enough to achieve something similar. (even though you’re a laptop junkie and i’m still mainlining vinyl..), so you obviously apply organization where you *want* to..

but hey! you live in a great place now. no more psychotic roommates and most importantly you can procrastinate with friends because they’re so close by. if you go down, do it with someone ya know? :p this may sound ultra cheese that i may go so far as to suggest a solution, but have you tried setting a little goal for yourself every day? just a speck on the cosmos really, not chipping away at David or anything, and see if you can do that every day. gotta work small…

actually “go get beer” is usually my crowning accomplishment most days…

wait… i guess that would be funnier if it weren’t true
